What is Powerful Tools for Caregivers?
Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a class series that supports caregivers in taking care of yourself while caring for someone else. By taking care of your own health and well-being, you become a better caregiver.
Six classes held once a week are led by experienced class leaders. Class participants are given The Caregiver Helpbook to accompany the class and provide additional caregiver resources.
You are a caregiver if you: provide care for a friend or family member in their home, attend appointments with them, do grocery shopping or other household chores, ensure medication is taken or accompany them to activities or social gatherings. This course is for caregivers like you!
The class will give you tools to help:
- Reduce stress
- Improve self-confidence
- Manage time, set goals, and solve problems
- Communicate in challenging situations
- Make tough decisions
- Locate helpful resources
Online Chronic Self-Management Program
FREE to individuals across Ontario who are living with one or more chronic conditions such as diabetes, chronic pain, high blood pressure, stroke, cancer, heart or kidney conditions. Many of the workshops are also beneficial for caregivers and anyone looking to improve their health literacy. The online programs can be accessed from any device with an internet connection and have been designed to meet different needs; from one-on-one health coaching and group-based workshop series, to one-time health literacy webinars.
